Limpopo rivals Baroka FC and Polokwane City will meet for an Absa Premiership relegation six-pointer derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday 11 January 2020, kick-off at 15h30.

Baroka suffered a third successive 1-0 loss (and saw their winless streak stretched to six matches) when they were beaten away to Golden Arrows on January 8. Bakgaga have claimed just four points from nine home matches in this league campaign.

Polokwane come into the clash having suffered a 4-1 home loss against Orlando Pirates on January 7 – it was their 10th defeat in the last 11 league matches. Rise and Shine have claimed seven points from eight away games in the 2019/20 season to date.

In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and Baroka have met in seven league matches since 2016/17. Rise and Shine have claimed two wins compared to one for Bakgaga, while no less than four games have ended in draws. Baroka have recorded two draws and one defeat from three matches as hosts.

When the teams met earlier this season, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in November 2019, Bakgaga claimed a 1-0 away win thanks to a goal from Prince Nxumalo. It was their first victory in the rivalry with their fellow Limpopo club.

Baroka’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to Arrows on January 8: Chipezeze, Kgoetyane, Shozi (Ngubane 39’), Farmer, Gebhardt, Mbulu, Kambala, Mosele (Madondo 18’), Maloka, Patjie (Makgaka 76’), Chivaviro
