Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi is set to go undergo surgery after suffering an injury in training.
This has been revealed by his English club Leicester City, who announced that the central midfielder will be out until February 2020.
The 23-year-old player has been a regular for the Foxes in the English Premier League this season.
However, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers stated that Ndidi’s injury is not too serious.
“Wilf took a knock in training yesterday, which unfortunately means he might need a slight operation tomorrow (Thursday),” Rodgers told the club’s official Twitter page.
“That’ll put him out for a few weeks, but it’s not overly serious, so hopefully, going into February, he’ll be fit and ready to go again.”
Ndidi could miss league games against Southampton, Burnley, West Ham United and Brentford (FA Cup) during his absence.
He has made 20 appearances in the EPL in the current campaign.
