Etoile du Sahel, Esperance, TP Mazembe and Mamelodi Sundowns recorded wins in the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday.
Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel climbed to the top of the Group B table after registering a 2-1 victory against Sudanese side Al-Hilal in Omdurman.
DR Congolese Mazembe remained at the top of the Group A table after securing 2-1 home victory over Angolan side C.D. Primeiro de Agosto.
While South African champions Sundowns also maintained their lead at the top of Group C after defeating Algerian side USM Alger 2-1 in Pretoria.
Mazembe’s local rivals, AS Vita Club remain winless in Group D after losing 2-0 at home against the defending champions Esperance of Tunisia.
Goals from Fousseny Coulibaly and Hamdou Elhouni helped Esperance win, and they remain the only side which is yet to concede in the group stage.
Meanwhile, Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca were held to a 2-2 draw by a resilient Petro de Luanda side in a Group C game which was played in Angola.
Lastly, Egyptian giants Al-Ahly are placed second on the Group B standings after drawing 1-1 with a stubborn FC Platinum side in Zimbabwe.
