Weiler: Al Ahly suffering from fatigue despite impressive form

Al Ahly head coach Rene Weiler says his players are suffering from fatigue despite the team’s impressive form.

The Red Devils recorded their 11th win out of 11 Egyptian Premier League matches when they thumped Tanta 5-0 on Wednesday.

“I am happy and satisfied with the performance and the result. Most of the players were tired and were suffering from muscular fatigue after the African trip,” Weiler said on King Fut.

“I liked Mahmoud Metwally’s performance. His injury is not serious, he will undergo tests to know the extent of his injury.

“He sometimes plays in defence and others in the midfield. It is important to have versatile footballs in modern football,” he added.

“The difference between domestic and African football returns to the fact that the Champions League is tougher, this is not me belittling from the Premier League.

“It is normal that the performance of the teams in the two competitions to be different.”

The defending champions Al Ahly cemented their position on top of the league table with 33 points from 11 games.
