Polokwane City will be desperate to revive their Absa Premiership campaign when they host Golden Arrows at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday 19 January 2020, kick-off at 15h30.

Polokwane suffered an 11th defeat from their last 12 league matches when they were beaten 1-0 at derby rivals Baroka FC on January 11 – the result saw City drop to last place on the log standings. Rise and Shine have claimed nine points from as many home matches this season.

Arrows broke a four-game losing streak in the league when they beat Baroka FC 1-0 at home on January 8, with a goal from Lerato Lamola. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed just six points from nine away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.

In head-to-head stats, Arrows and Polokwane have met in 11 league matches since 2013/14. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed five wins compared to two for Rise and Shine, while four matches have been drawn. The Polokwane side’s five turns as hosts have brought them two wins, one draw and two defeats.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in October 2019, Arrows claimed a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Knox Mutizwa and Ntsako Makhubela, while Rise and Shine’s consolation was netted by Salulani Phiri.

Polokwane’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to Baroka on January 11: Chigova, Mvelase, Nthatheni, Chauke, Hlongwane, Booi, Manaka, J. Maluleke (Hlubi 70’), Nku (Mahlasela 23’), Tlolane (Anas 73’), Mashumba.

Arrows’ line-up from their 1-0 win over Baroka on January 8: Mlungwana, Dube, Sibisi, Mathiane, Nkombelo, Venter (Mtshali 61’), Shitolo, Phiri (Ndwandwe 65’), Makhubela, Lamola (Sibeko 77’), Gumede.
