The SuperSport United goalkeeper signed a new four-and-a-half year deal that will keep him contracted to the club until June 2024, Matsatsantsa officially announced on Friday.
Williams, 27, has spent his whole career at the club, having joined SuperSport’s youth ranks as a 12-year-old.
The Port-Elizabeth born shot-stopper has established himself as an integral member of the club over the last few years and the new contract will quash any rumours of him joining another club.
“In many ways, Ronwen is the poster child of the club. He represents so much of what we stand for in terms of trying to give maximum opportunity for talented young players to shine,” said SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews as per KickOff.com.
“He joined us as a 12-year-old, having to live miles away from his parents in an unfamiliar environment and has worked his socks off to be Bafana Bafana number-one, PSL goalkeeper of the year and an integral part of the last six trophies he has helped us win.
“We are all truly proud of him – a homegrown talent and a reflection of how hard work, passion, discipline and sacrifice can enable you to reach your dreams.”
Williams has played a record 300 times for SuperSport United since making his first team debut in the 2011/12 season, playing a crucial role in helping the club to six trophies during that time span.
