Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has shot down speculation that the Premier League club will move to sign Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb in the January transfer window.
Reports in the German media have named Palace as the leading candidates to sign the 25-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur player.
Everton and Lyon have also been linked with the midfielder, with Schalke reportedly open to the possibility of loaning the player with an option for a permanent move at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Bentaleb has fallen out of favour at the Royal Blues, making zero appearances in the Bundesliga this season. In fact, his only two matches in 19/20 have been in the Regionalliga West, a regional semi-professional league.
However, Hodgson insists that the Algerian has not been a subject of discussion at the Eagles, who face Manchester City away from home in a Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.
“A lot of players would like to come to London,” said the veteran manager when asked about the possibility of signing the French-born North African, as quoted by Football London.
“The fact is Bentaleb’s name has never once come up across people at the club [when discussing potential signings].”
