Three South African Absa Premiership matches were played on Sunday afternoon with Mamelodi Sundowns recording a win.

The defending champions secured a narrow 2-1 victory over their Tshwane rivals SuperSport United 2-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane.

The victory saw second-placed Sundowns reduce log leaders Kaizer Chiefs’ lead to seven points, while SuperSport remained third.

Meanwhile, Polokwane City had to fight back to hold Lamontville Golden Arrows to a 1-1 draw at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo.

The draw left Polokwane on the 15th spot on the legue table, while Arrows are placed eighth.

Lastly, Chippa United came from behind to hold Bloemfontein Celtic to a 1-1 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The result left Celtic and Chippa on the seventh, and 10th spots respectively on the league standings.
