Baroka FC will aim to end Maritzburg United’s strong run in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday 26 January 2020, kick-off at 15h30.

Baroka suffered a 10th defeat of the league season when they were beaten 1-0 at Stellenbosch on January 17, with the Limpopo club now winning just once in their last eight outings. Bakgaga have claimed just seven points from 10 home matches this term.

Maritzburg extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches with a 1-0 home win over AmaZulu on January 17, courtesy of a goal from Thabiso Kutumela. The Team of Choice has claimed 11 points from nine away matches this season.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Baroka have met in seven league matches since 2016/17. The Team of Choice has claimed five wins compared to one for Bakgaga, while one game has been drawn. The Limpopo side’s three previous home matches in the rivalry have produced one draw and two defeats.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Harry Gwala Stadium in October 2019, Maritzburg claimed a 1-0 home win thanks to a goal from Mxolisi Kunene.

Baroka’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch on January 17: Chipezeze, Kgoetyane, Farmer, Gebhardt, Ngubane, Chivaviro, Patjie (Selemela 82’), Phiri Jr, Mosele, Nxumalo (Nsimba 69’), Makgaka (Maloka 86’).
