SuperSport United will look t bounce back from a derby defeat in the Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday 24 January 2020, kick-off at 20h00.

SuperSport suffered their first home loss of the season when they were beaten 2-1 by Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on January 19. Matsatsantsa still have a solid record as hosts in 2019/20, having claimed 17 points from 10 matches.

Chippa played to a seventh draw of the season when they held Bloemfontein Celtic 1-1 ‘away’ (at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium) on January 19, with an equalising goal from William Twala. The Chilli Boys have claimed 10 points from nine matches on the road this term.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Chippa have met in 13 league matches since 2012/13. Matsatsantsa have claimed six wins compared to just two for the Chilli Boys, while five games have finished in draws. The Tshwane side boasts an unbeaten home record, with three wins and three draws from six turns as hosts.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in December 2019, Chippa claimed a 1-0 home win thanks to a goal from Xolani Maholo.

Chippa’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with Celtic on January 19: Mothwa, Modisane, K. Moyo, Mthethwa, Malepe, Maphangule, Maholo, Twala, Maziya, Rakhale (Komane 90+1’), Kwem (Sekotlong 87’).
