Golden Arrows will look to claim an upset win over Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs when the teams meet at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday 25 January 2020, kick-off at 15h30.
Arrows played to sixth draw (added to six wins and six losses) of the league season when they were held 1-1 away to Polokwane City on January 19, with Knox Mutizwa netting early on for the Durban side. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed 17 points from eight home matches this term.
Chiefs played to just a third draw of the season when they were held 1-1 at Black Leopards on January 18, with a goal from Samir Nurkovic. The Amakhosi have claimed 20 points from nine away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.
In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Arrows have met in 37 league matches since 2000/01. The Amakhosi have claimed 19 wins compared to eight for Abafana Bes’thende, while 10 games have been drawn. The Durban side has won five of their 18 home league matches in the rivalry, suffering eight defeats in the process.
When the teams met earlier this season, at FNB Stadium in October 2019, Chiefs claimed a 2-0 home win thanks to a penalty from Daniel Cardoso and an own goal from Nkosinathi Sibisi. It was the Amakhosi’s first victory in this rivalry since 2016/17.
