Baroka FC concluded this weekend’s Absa Premiership action with a 2-1 win over Maritzburg United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon.
Victory for Bakgaga was secured by an 89th minute strike from Tshidiso Patjie, this after goals from Ethen Sampson and Judas Moseamedi either side of the break.
Bakgaga duly move up to 20 points on the log standings, three points clear of the relegation zone while Maritzburg remain in sixth place despite the defeat.
The weekend started with two games on Friday night. Cape Town City continued their revival with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Black Leopards while SuperSport United thumped Chippa United 3-0.
There were a further three games in Saturday, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in action.
The Amakhosi stretched their lead atop the standings back to 10 points with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows while Orlando Pirates continued their good run of form with a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu.
Elsewhere. Stellenbosch FC secured a valuable victory by beating Polokwane City 1-0 in Cape Town.
