Horoya AC defeated Al Nasr 2-0 in their final CAF Confederation Cup Group C match at the Petro Sport Stadium in Egypt on Sunday.
As a result, Guinean giants Horoya reached the quarter-finals as Group C winners, while Libya’s Al Nasr advanced as runners-up.
Alfahama were keen to avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered against Horoya on match-day two in Conakry last month.
However, it was the visitors, who broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the encounter through Boniface Haba with the the Al Nasr defence exposed.
The 23-year-old attacker beat Abdelrhman Alriaydh in the Alfahama goal-posts make to make it 1-0 to Horoya with Enoch Agyei grabbing an assist.
The hosts pushed for the equalizing goal, but Horoya stood firm at the back and the score was 1-0 to the visitors during the half-time break.
Al Nasr continued to attack after the restart, but they were frustrated by the visitors’ defence.
Mohamed Alkikly, the Al Nasr coach, decided to introduce attack-minded player Osama Ibrahiem Albedwi just before the hour-mark.
However, it was the away side, who scored the next goal when Dramane Nikiema beat Alriaydh to make it 2-0 to Horoya with 14 minutes left.
The late goal sealed Horoya’s 2-0 victory over an Al Nasr side, whose attack was blunt on the day.
