The 23-year-old French-born player came up through the youth ranks at Chelsea but made only one official appearance for the club, spending most of his early professional career on loan spells.
In 2018 he moved to Italian club Sassuolo and he has gone on to be a key man for the Neroverdi, registering six goals and two assists in Serie A this term. That includes a fine strike against heavyweights Roma in a surprise 4-2 win last weekend.
Boga’s form has attracted transfer attention from around Europe, but Chelsea will have the inside lane on acquiring the services of the Ivory Coast international.
“Chelsea can redeem him in June,” Carnevali told Goal.
“We have a great relationship with the club and we already met them before Christmas – also for other business.
“We like to have what we have with Barcelona, to have a collaborative relationship.
“They can take him back but we can also re-sign him, everything is open.”
Chelsea, under manager Frank Lampard, are able to make signings again after a recent transfer ban, though they did not do any business in the January window.
