Wits never gave up and levelled matters in the 120th minute of play through Gift Motupa before winning 3-2 on penalties in an epic Nedbank Cup encounter.

Fellow top-flight club Black Leopards made easy work of NWU Mafikeng. Mogakolodi Ngele, Thobani Mncwango (two) and Tumelo Khutlang were all on target for Lidoda Duvha in a 4-0 win in Thohoyandou.

In the Mpumalanga province, GladAfrica Championship side Mbombela United caused an upset as they beat Cape Town City 1-0 thanks to a solitary strike from Justice Figareido.

ABC Motsepe League side Hungry Lions matched Mbombela’s feat with a 1-0 win of their own against Jomo Cosmos at Olen Park. Reanetse Ramatlapeng found the back fo the net for the third division team from tiny Postmasburg in the Northern Cape as they sealed an historic win.
