Sadio Mane scored his 100th goal in English football on Saturday night.
The Senegal international’s solitary strike in the 78th minute spearheaded Liverpool to a hard fought 1-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Victory not only extended Liverpool’s lead atop the English Premier League table to 25 points, but also qualified the club for UEFA Champions League football for next season!
Talking to Sky Sports News after the game, the Reds forward reacted surprised on hearing that he has now netted 100 goals in England:
“Really? Wow! Thank you. It was not easy because as a football player you want to play all the time, but you have to deal with [injuries].
“We are happy with our result today,” Mane said.
The match was 27-year-old’s first following a few weeks on the sidelines due to injury and he made the desired impact on his return, netting his 16th goal of the season.
Mane has now scored 75 goals for Liverpool, having netted 25 goals in 75 games for Southampton.
