Ahead of tonight’s Egyptian Super Cup final, Zamalek manager Patrice Carteron has declared his side “ready” for the challenge of facing arch rivals Al Ahly.
The Cairo giants will renew their rivalry at the Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Zamalek have already claimed a piece of major silverware this week, defeating Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis 3-1 in the CAF Super Cup last Friday.
Carteron admits that the match against the Blood and Gold took a lot out of them, but he insists the White Knights are looking forward to the challenge of taking on the Red Devils.
“We are having a tough week after returning from the CAF Super Cup game in Qatar but we are ready for the game against Al Ahly,” Carteron said in a press conference, as quoted by King Fut.
“The players were really happy after winning the CAF Super Cup which led to wild celebrations.
“But I was able to prepare the team for Thursday’s game because it will be different than the one against Esperance and we must be mentally prepared to win the cup,” he added.
Zamalek and Ahly are set to meet again in an Egyptian Premier League clash early next week before they host Esperance de Tunis and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively in next weekend’s first-leg Champions League quarterfinal matches.
