Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta is brimming with confidence ahead of Aston Villa’s trip to Southampton.
The 27-year-old striker has started all three games since his arrival at Villa with a Carabao Cup final place confirmed and his first goal in the bag.
Samatta is pleased to be forming positive relationships with his teammates at the English side.
“I’m starting to understand the players and their qualities,” Samatta told the club’s official website.
“So I know that El Ghazi is a winger and that he looks for the cross, so I just tried to be available for that.
“I was in the right position, and if the defender didn’t touch the ball I would be able to score [against Spurs],” he continued.
Samatta also highlighted his link with Villa’s inspirational skipper, Jack Grealish as they prepare for Saturday’s clash with Southampton.
“Jack is very good with the ball, he is brilliant,” he added when talking about the English midfielder.
“Sometimes he will look for the one-two and other times he wants you to give him space so that he can beat a defender, so I try to adapt and have a good connection.”
