Former Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula is set to join Sochi.
According to Sport Express the 27-year-old will join the Russian side on a free transfer, two days after the Potters terminated his contract – pending international clearance.
Imbula joined Stoke from FC Porto in a big money deal four years ago, but struggled to find his feet at the club, scoring two goals in just 28 appearances as the Potters eventually suffered relegation down to the English Championship.
The Belgian-born midfielder spent the last three seasons on-loan in three different countries.
First back in France with Toulouse before spells in Spain and Italy.
Imbula was a regular for Spanish club Rayo Vallecano, playing 24 times in the 2018-19 season, but he managed just four appearances for Italian club Lecce.
The Democratic Republic of Congo international, who also previously played for Guingamp and Marseille is now set to further his career in Russia and will have the difficult task of helping a Sochi avoid relegation.
Sochi currently occupy bottom spot in the Russia Premier League, having accumulated just the three wins from 18 games this season.
