Wydad Casablanca have announced Juan Carlos Garrido as the club’s new head coach.

The Spanish tactician has replaced Sebastien Desabre, who recently parted ways with the Moroccan football heavyweights.

The Lions of Africa have since brought in Garrido ahead of their CAF Champions League clash with Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel

A club statement read: “On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in the Mohammed bin Jaloun boat in Casablanca, Mr. Juan Carlos Garrido was appointed coach of the first football team for the Wydad Sports Club, replacing coach Sebastian Dossaber.”

“After signing the contract, Garrido will start his duties today by running the training camp currently held for the first team in preparation for the African Champions League quarter-final, which will gather Wydad Athletic at the Tunisian Sahel star on Saturday, February 29, 2020, with the Mohamed V boat in Casablanca.”

Garrido will be facing Sahel having parted ways with the club earlier this season due to poor results in the Tunisian top-flight league.

Wydad are scheduled to host Sahel in the quarter-final first-leg match at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Sunday.
