Wydad Casablanca will play host to Etoile du Sahel in a 2019-20 CAF Champions League quarterfinal first-leg clash at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Saturday evening.

Kick-off is at 21h00 CAT.

The match will be Juan Carlos Garrido’s first in charge of the Moroccan giants and first since being sacked as Etoile head coach earlier this month.

Garrido spearhead Etoile into the knockout stages of this season’s competition, but despite finishing atop Group B – one points above record eight-time champions Al Ahly – he was sacked due to the club’s poor league form.

Etoile currently linger in sixth place in the Tunisian top-flight, 18 points behind Esperance de Tunis.

The Spaniard replaced Sebastien Desabre in Casablanca, with the latter also sacked following a poor run of results despite Wydad currently occupying top spot in the Botola League.

Wydad booked their place in the quarterfinals following a second place finish in Group C, five points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Moroccan league leaders have reached the Champions League final in two of the last three seasons, winning in 2017 before losing over two legs against Esperance last season. Etoile’s only triumph in the competition came in 2007.

Kais Zouaghi has been named as Garrido’s successor in Sousse and will himself be hoping for the perfect start to the two-legged quarterfinal showdown with the reverse fixture to take place in Rades on the 7th of March.
