The four home teams will be eager to follow in the footsteps of the four home teams in the CAF Champions League when the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal stage commences on the African continent later today.
Africa’s premier club competition set the tone for those participating in the Confederation Cup to follow on Sunday, with Zamalek, Raja Casablanca, Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca all claiming home wins and all winning by a two-goal margin this weekend.
All four CAF Confederation Cup first-leg quarterfinal matches will take place on Sunday.
Zanaco will play host to big-spending Pyramids FC in Lusaka while Cairo and Suez will be the venue for Al-Nasr vs Hassania Agadir and Al-Masry vs RS Berkane respectively.
Furthermore, Enyimba and Horoya AC will meet with the Nigerian’s hosting the first-leg clash in Aba.
Horoya and Zanaco head into the knockout stages as the only unbeaten teams in the tournament.
The Guinean giants topped their group with four wins and two draws from six matches while the Zambian’s finished second behind RS Berkane despite not losing a game – finishing with two wins and four draws from their allotted fixtures.
Enyimba’s Stanley Dimgba and Karim El Berkaoui of Hassania Agadir are the two leading goal scorers in the competition with four goals apiece.
