Al Ahly manager Rene Weiler was satisfied by his troops’ performance against Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.

The Egyptian football powerhouse overcame the South African giants 2-0 in the first-leg match of the CAF Champions League quarter-final on Saturday night.

The Swiss coach felt that his side dominated the encounter which was played in the Egyptian capital city, Cairo.

“I want to thank my team who dominated the game and scored two goals and they could have scored more,” Weiler said in a press conference.

“We had possession for the majority of the game and we were also better and that is very important for us.

Weiler went on to explain why he excluded highly-rated attacker Mahmoud Kahraba.

“Kahraba’s exclusion was a technical decision we had to make,” he continued.

“And I hope you stop asking me about players that are not in the squad and ask me about the ones who played instead.”

The second-leg match is scheduled to be played in the South African capital city, Pretoria on March 7.
