Cyriel Dessers has been included in Nigeria’s 24-man squad for upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone this month.
The Super Eagles will host Sierra Leone in Asaba before taking on the same opponents in Freetown a few days later.
Dessers, who was born in Belgium, has been in sensational form for Dutch Eredivisie club Heracles Almelo this season.
The 25-year-old has scored 18 goals and assisted a further six in 28 appearances across all competitions, and is the league’s tops marksman heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Dessers tweeted: “So honoured and proud. Can’t wait to wear the Green-White jersey and meet the team!”
He will form part of an exciting Super Eagles attack which includes Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and the recalled again Kelechi Iheanacho.
German-born defender Kingsley Ehizibue has also been called up by Gernot Rohr. He has featured 21 times for FC Koln at right-back in the German Bundesliga this season, having joined the club from PEC Zwolle last year.
