Talking to the media following the Brazilians elimination from the 2019-20 CAF Champions League, Mosimane revealed that he is close to signing a new deal with the Tshwane giants.
As things stand, Mosimane’s deal will run its course at the end of the current campaign, and despite fears that the two parties won’t come to an agreement – ‘Jingles’ has reiterated his desire to remain at the club and expressed that the ball is now in the club’s court.
The 55-year-old has transformed Sundowns’ fortunes over the last eight years while establishing the club as one of the top teams on the African continent.
In total, Mosimane has won eight major titles as Sundowns head coach including the 2016 CAF Champions League crown.
“It’s a tough one that one. Remember earlier I said that 80 percent of the contract has been agreed? So I have complied to 100 percent – to what Sundowns wanted,” Mosimane reiterated on Saturday as quoted by Sowetan Live.
“I am waiting for Sundowns now. You can ask Sundowns. I have long complied – the ball is in Sundowns’ court not in my court.
He added: “I want to be here‚ I want to be here.
“I hope I’m here‚ but I don’t know‚ we’ll see. It’s not me‚ don’t put it on me. I’m sorted now. I have complied with everything so it’s on the other side‚ it’s not on my side.”
Sundowns will now turn their attention to defending their Absa Premiership title and will take confidence from league leaders Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to AmaZulu on a PSL fixture on Saturday evening.
