SuperSport United kept their slim titles hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Highlands Park in one of two Absa Premiership fixtures on Sunday.

Goals from Aubrey Modiba and Bradley Grobler spearheaded Matsatsantsa to victory and up to third place on the log standings.

Matsatsantsa were in control from start to finish and deservedly secured all three points thanks to two first-half goals at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa. Grobler’s strike was his 12th of the season and keeps him firmly in the running for the golden boot award.

Following Kaizer Chiefs’ loss to AmaZulu on Saturday evening, it is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing title races in recent memory.

Elsewhere, Cape Town City beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 to ease their relegation fears at Athlone Stadium.

Goals from Thabo Nodada and Bradley Ralani secured all three points for the Citizens who jump up to 10th place on the log standings – four points clear of the relegation zone.

Celtic remain in ninth place following the loss.
