Bidvest Wits closed the gap between themselves and Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs to 10 points following a 1-0 win over Black Leopards at Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Clever Boys remain in sixth place following the win, but keep their title hopes alive with a return to winning ways. Leopards remain rooted to the bottom of the log standings following another defeat.

Wits dominated the early exchanges and while Brandon Petersen was called into action to keep out a powerful shot from Thabo Matlaba, the hosts took a deserved lead on the half-hour mark.

Deon Hotto picked out teammate Terrence Dzvukamanja with a pin-point cross at the far post and the forward made no mistake: nodding the Clever Boys in front.

Following a lull in intensity following the break the tempo really picked up in the closing stages and Wits were extremely unlucky not to double their lead as first Haashim Domingo and then Elias Pelembe rattled the woodwork.

Lidoda Duvha had one last chance through Mwape Musonda with the final play of the game, but Petersen was up to the task as Wits claimed all three points.
