Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Dr Irvin Khoza on Monday afternoon announced that all of this week’s scheduled Absa Premiership, GladAfrica Championship and MultiChoice Diski Challenge fixtures have been suspended.

Khoza’s announcement followed short on the heels of the South African Football Association (SAFA) decision to suspended all football activities.

This comes after the South African government prohibited the gathering of over 100 people due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa last night announced a comprehensive contingency plan in an attempt to curb the COVID-19 outbreak which has infiltrated most of the world’s countries.

Furthermore, the PSL will hold a Board of Governors meeting (all 32 members of the PSL) on Thursday, 19 March to discuss all the options and the way forward for the league.

Kaizer Chiefs, Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits currently occupy top spot in the Absa Premiership, GladAfrica Championship and MultiChoice Diski Challenge respectively.

Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest WIts, Bloemfontein Celtic and Baroka FC this past weekend booked their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
