Highlands Park midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has applauded Mamelodi Sundowns for the faith they’ve shown in club captain Hlompho Kekana.
Kekana, 34, recently signed a four-year contract extension that will be keep at Chloorkop past his 39th birthday.
The Brazilians skipper has enjoyed huge success in his time as a Sundowns player, winning several league titles while also skippering the club to 2016 CAF Champions League glory.
Letsholonyane hinted that he wished Kaizer Chiefs had showed him a similar sort of loyalty in 2016 when he eventually swapped Naturena for SuperSport United.
The 37-year-old spent eight successful years with the Amakhosi before leaving for Matsatsantsa who had offered him a good deal.
“It’s a good deal. I think it’s a repayment for what he [Kekana] has done for the club and what he has achieved while with the club, and I think he deserves everything coming his way,” Letsholonyane told KickOff.com.
“He’s a good professional footballer and it’s obviously every player’s dream to spend as much time with the team that introduces you to the limelight, or rather gives you the platform to be a professional player and achieve a lot with that team.
“I think if I had the same opportunity years back, I would have grabbed it with both hands,” he concluded.
