Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech is reportedly hoping that Chelsea will sign his current Ajax teammate, Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Ziyech has agreed a £37million move from Ajax to the Blues which will be completed at the end of the season – though this now obviously has complications due to the suspension of all major leagues in the fight against coronavirus.
Nonetheless, the Daily Mail reports that Ziyech is already planning to make a transfer request and will try and persuade Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to sign Onana.
The goalkeeper has long been linked with a move away from Ajax, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur now seen as his likeliest destinations should the Eredivisie club sanction a transfer.
Onana is regarded as one of Europe’s top up-and-coming goalkeepers and Lampard is on the hunt for a new stopper after being left unimpressed with Kepa Arrizabalaga’s displays through this campaign.
Lampard’s list of potential goalkeeper transfer targets also includes Manchester United’s Dean Henderson (who is currently on loan at Sheffield United) and Burnley’s Nick Pope.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of names, but Ziyech is convinced Onana, who is valued at around £50million by his club, can be the Blues’ new number one.
