Simon Murray has returned to Scotland after he agreed to terminate his contract with Absa Premiership club Bidvest Wits.

The Clever Boys announced on Saturday that they’d parted company with the forward who managed just one appearance this season.

Murray suffered a cruciate ligament injury just six minutes into his first game of the 2019/20 season and was subsequently ruled out of action for the remainder of the campaign.

Having made good progress in his recovery, Murray was given the green light to return to Scotland and did so just before South Africa shutdown their airports amid the coronavirus pandemic which has suspended world sport indefinitely.

In total, the 28-year-old scored eight goals in 28 appearances for Bidvest Wits who he joined from Hibernian FC in July 2018.

According to The Courier Dundee United are interested in resigning the forward who scored 25 goals in 75 appearances for the Scottish outfit.
