Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has been touted as the greatest Nigerian footballer of all-time by Daniel Amokachi.
Mikel is a successful midfielder having won two English Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League trophy and one UEFA Europa League title with Chelsea FC.
The 32-year-old, who won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title with Nigeria, is also a Summer Olympics bronze medalist and FIFA World Youth Championship Silver Ball winner.
Legendary Nigerian striker Amokachi feels that what Mikel has achieved during his 16-year career makes him the best player to ever emerge from the West African country.
“Mikel is the greatest player,” Amokachi told Brila FM.
“He has won everything that a player can hope to; the Champions League, Europa, Afcon in 2013 and he also captained the national team.
“As a footballer, your laurels count and that will surely count for Mikel because nobody has won that much in Nigerian football.”
Mikel also won the oldest competition in the world, FA Cup three times with Chelsea.
He is a free-agent after terminating his contract with Turkish Super Lig log leaders Trabzonspor earlier this month.
