Egypt legend Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam has revealed the Egyptian Premier League’s potential resumption date.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) suspended football in the country in all divisions on March 14 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Mido, who has coached Ismaily, Zamalek and Misr Lel Makkasa, discussed necessary precautions that need to be taken when speaking on King Fut.
“It is very important to follow the instructions of the competent authorities to be able to beat the coronavirus and stay safe,” Mido said.
“Football is not a priority during the current situation, which of course will affect all the clubs around the world, but people’s lives are more important.”
The football matches were initially suspended for two weeks as part of the measures to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus in the North African country.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma striker Mido says Egypt’s top-flight league is likely to resume within 30 days.
“The league can be resumed within 30 days if the authorities can control the current situation. You’d have to wait at least a month before taking this decision,” he added.
Al Ahly are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League standings 16 points above second-placed Al Mokawloon.
Their arch-rivals Zamalek are currently placed fourth on the log with a game in hand.
