Odion Ighalo will reportedly have to take a £200,000-a-week wage cut if he were to remain at Old Trafford past the 2019-20 English Premier League season.

According to the Daily Star, the Manchester United hierarchy have warned the former Nigeria international that they won’t come anywhere close to matching the £300,000-a-week package Ighalo currently earns in China and are willing to offer him no more than £100,000-a-week.

Ighalo joined the Red Devils on loan from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in January in a deal that looks likely to be extended past its May deadline due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that has indefinitely halted football across the globe.

The The 30-year-old has scored four goals in eight appearances across all competitions for United, but the club have over the past few days expressed that they will explore other options before offering Ighalo a permanent deal.

Ighalo retired from international football following the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in which he helped the Super Eagles to a third-place finish.

He has scored 10 goals in 19 matches for Shanghai Shenhua who he joined in February last year.
