Asamoah Gyan is not considering retirement anytime soon.
The Ghana international and Africa’s record goalscorer at World Cup tournaments will not be hanging up his boots despite a spate of injuries which has curtailed his career.
Gyan last played for North East United in the Indian Premier League having left Turkish Super Lig club Kayserispor in July last year.
The 34-year-old, who is the Black Stars all-time leading goalscorer with 51 goals in over 100 appearances, is fully focussed on getting back to full fitness and returning to the field of play once the coronavirus pandemic has subsided.
“It looks like people want me to retire but I’m not done yet. I had a couple of injuries but I’m getting back to full fitness,” Gyan told TV3 as reported by Goal.com.
“I’m now okay and feel good in my body.
“I have added a bit of weight that I have to work on and get back to shape,” he concluded.
Gyan played in Italy, France, England, United Arab Emirates, China and Turkey before taking his talents to India.
