Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have dismissed reports linking them with former Inter Milan star Sulley Muntari.
Reports indicating that the 35-year-old central midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the Phobians emerged on Friday.
Ghana international Muntari is currently a free agent having parted ways with Spanish Segunda Division side Albacete last year.
The 20-time Ghanaian champions have since released the following statement:
A club statement read: “Accra Hearts of Oak wants to notify the general sporting public that we have not signed Ghana International Sulley Muntari as it’s being reported by the media.”
“Sulley is a great player and a friend of the club. We will continue to unveil the players we have signed.”
“Hearts of Oak, is the Premier club in Ghana and will continue to set the standards, we, therefore, urge our supporters not to rely on information unless it comes from our official handles.”
Muntari is an accomplished player having won the Italian Serie A title (twice), UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Coppa Italia (twice) and Supercoppa Italiana (twice).
The left-footed player, who was nurtured in the Liberty Professionals academy in the Ghanaian city of Accra, also represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.
