Ghanaian veteran Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he would like to end his career on the books of local club Asante Kotoko.
The 34-year-old played for Liberty Professionals in Ghana before setting off on a journeyman overseas career which has seen him play in Italy, France, England, United Arab Emirates, China, Turkey and India over the past 17 years.
Gyan is currently without a club after being released by NorthEast United of the Indian Super League and he has effectively issued a come-and-get-me plea to Asante Kotoko – the team he has backed since he was a boy.
“I’ve supported Kumasi Asante Kotoko since I was a kid, till now. I even said to myself that I had to play for Kotoko, but I didn’t have the chance to play before travelling outside,” he told TV3 Sports, as quoted by Football Ghana.
“I have said that I have to wear the red shirt before I call it a day. I want to finish my career at Kumasi Asante Kotoko.”
He continued, “There are so many people when they were kids, they will tell that I want to be a doctor, but they end up being a nurse, or a waitress, they end up being a hostess. So its something I want to do, I want to end my career with Kotoko.”
