Orlando Pirates’ Malawian striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango says he is confident that he will be able to pick up where he left off if and when the 2019-20 season resumes in South Africa.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a fine first campaign with the Soweto giants, and he sits stop the Absa Premiership scoring charts with 14 goals.
Mhango was in fine form before the season was suspended in March due to the coronavirus, scoring three goals in his last three league matches.
With the players away from competitive action for so long, there is a worry that they will be rusty and out of sorts when the season resumes. However, Mhango is confident that he will continue his form.
“It has been a long time that we have [not had] game time,” Mhango told Far Post.
“But for me actually it is something I will never lose my mind because it is only football that keeps me busy all the time.
“So, even if I don’t have time to play football on the field of play, when I get back to the pitch the performance will be the same because I have a target to fight [for].”
When the season was suspended, Pirates were placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log – eight points adrift of leaders and arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
