Shanghai Shenhua will reportedly demand £20 million from Manchester United for Odion Ighalo’s permanent services.
According to Mail Online, the Red Devils are hoping to keep hold of Ighalo, but chances of him staying at Old Trafford have dramatically decreased following the Chinese club’s latest demands.
Ighalo, who joined United on-loan in January, will see his contract with English Premier League club expire at the end of May. United were keen on keeping the 30-year-old past the May 31 deadline due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Shenhua want him back before the start of the Chinese Super League season in July.
Shenhua will reportedly allow Ighalo to remain in Manchester, but only if the two clubs can agree on a permanent transfer in coming weeks.
Ighalo has scored four goals in eight appearances across all competitions for United, prompting rumours of a permanent move to the club he supported as a child.
The former Watford forward retired from international football following the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in which he helped the Super Eagles to a third-place finish.
