Florentin Pogba has signed for French Ligue 2 club Sochaux on a three-year deal.

Sochaux officially announced the signing of Paul Pogba’s older brother on Monday and the deal will be completed once he passes a medical examination. Florentin has been a free agent since leaving Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United late last year.

The 29-year-old started his playing career at Spanish club Celta Vigo before spells at Sedan and Saint-Etienne in France as well as Genclerbirligi in Turkey.

Pogba played 99 times for Saint-Etienne and is no stranger to France’s second division having scored seven goals in 79 Ligue 2 appearances while on the books of Sedan.

Unlike Paul, Pogba represents Guinea at international level. The burly defender made his debut for the African country in 2013 having also previously represented France at youth level.

Sochaux finished the 2019/20 Ligue 2 season in 14th place on the log standings. Both the French Ligue 1 and 2 seasons were brought to a premature end due to the coronavirus pandemic.
