Manchester United are set to lose out on former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo.
According to BBC Sport, Ighalo is set to return to China when his loan deal expires on 31 May, as United continue to struggle in their attempts to agree an extension with Shanghai Shenhua.
The 30 year-old joined United on-loan in January as cover for the injured Marcus Rashford and has impressed in his time at Old Trafford, so much so that he’s been linked with a permanent move to the club.
Reports of a permanent move to United has died down, though, in recent days with The Times reporting that Shenhua have offered him a new contract worth more than £75 million over four years.
The coronavirus pandemic has limited Ighalo’s playing time at United, but he has impressed having scored four goals in eight appearances across all competitions and United are said to still be keen on adding a short extension to his loan deal.
The English Premier League is hoping for a return to action in June along with Serie A and LaLiga who would’ve kept a close eye on the German Bundesliga’s return earlier this month.
