Lens are reportedly keen on signing Gael Kakuta ahead of the 2020/21 season.

According to L’Equipe, Amiens are demanding around €5.5 million for the midfielder, but there is apparently room for negotiation.

While Amiens suffered relegation to Ligue 2 following the cancelation of the football season due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Lens were promoted and will play in Ligue 1 next season.

Kakuta joined Amiens on a permanent deal from Spanish club Rayo Vallecano in August last year and scored two goals in 24 games for the club before the season was brought to an abrupt end.

The former Chelsea wonderkid spent time on loan with Fulham, Dijon, Vitesse Arnhem, Bolton Wanderers, Lazio and Rayo Vallecano before moving to Sevilla in 2015. His time with the LaLiga club, though, was short-lived as he left for Chinese club Hebei China Fortune just a few months later.

Kakuta then spent time back in Spain and France on-loan before completing his move to Amiens.

The former French youth international, made his debut for the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2017 and has since amassed five caps.
