Legendary Nigerian midfielder Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha scored the most spectacular goal in the history of German football.
This is according to accomplished German coach Jurgen Klopp when referring to Okocha’s stunning goal scored against legendary goalkeeper Oliver Kahn during the 1992/93 season.
Okocha scored the goal during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt against Karlsruher as he displayed his amazing dribbling ability.
The retired midfielder dribbled in the penalty box and slotting the ball past German and Bayern Munch icon Kahn even going past some players twice.
The goal was voted Goal of the Season by many football magazines, and also voted as 1993 Goal of the Year by viewers of Sportschau (an ARD German TV sports programme).
“Okocha scored the most spectacular goal in the history of German football,” Klopp told the Guardian.
“It took like five minutes of Kahn and his defenders diving on the floor before he put the ball in the net.”
The current Liverpool FC manager then praised legendary African footballers George Weah, Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure.
“Some of the world’s best players have been from Africa; George Weah, Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure,” he added.
“In their generation they were some of the best players so why should we not sign them? It’s great.”
