Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo is close to extending his stay at Manchester United.
This has been confirmed by Ighalo’s agent, Atta Aneke as the English giants look to keep the prolific marksman in Manchester.
Ighalo joined United from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua on a six-month loan deal in January 2020.
The 30-year-old player impressed with his goalscoring ability as he netted four goals in eight competitive matches for the Red Devils.
This was before the current season was halted by the coronavirus pandemic, but he had done enough to impress United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Aneke revealed that talks were going well when speaking to Norwegian publication Nettavisen over the weekend.
“We are nearing an agreement with Manchester United on an extended loan,” Aneke said.
“The agreement will mean that Ighalo will remain with them until January 2021.”
Ighalo, who scooped the Golden Boot award at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, was reportedly offered a contract extension worth over £400,000 a week by Shenhua in March 2020.
