Manchester United have announced that they have reached an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua to extend Odion Ighalo’s loan deal.
The Red Devils officially confirmed the news on Monday with Ighalo set to remain with the Red Devils until 30 January 2021.
Ighalo’s loan deal was initially due to expire on 31 May, but he will now play for the club he supported as a boy until at least next year.
United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær expressed his delight at the conclusion of the deal and said: “They [Shanghai Shenhua] have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club. It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us.”
The Nigerian forward has scored four goals in eight appearances across all competitions for United since moving to Old Trafford in January.
Ighalo retired from international football following the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in which he helped the Super Eagles to a third-place finish.
