Kanoute urges Ghana's Partey to stay in La Liga

Ghana international Thomas Partey has been urged to stay in the Spanish La Liga.


The 26-year-old player has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world while playing for Atletico Madrid.


His exploits have not gone unnoticed as he has been linked with English giants Arsenal and French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Malian legend Frederic Kanoute hopes Partey stays with the Spanish giants.


“There are a few exciting [African] players in LaLiga in my opinion,” Kanoute told Goal.


“I really like Thomas [Partey] of Atletico Madrid. He’s a player who is going to keep improving, and there have even been rumours of him leaving to other clubs.


“We hope to keep him in LaLiga as long as possible.”


Kanoute achieved legendary status at Sevilla as he helped the team win two consecutive UEFA Cups in 2006 and 2007.


In addition to various other European and domestic honours and remains the club’s highest-scoring foreign player with 136 goals.


Partey has helped Atletico clinch the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
