Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha hasn’t ruled out the possibility of him exiting the club before the start of the 2020/21 season.
The Ivory Coast international came very close to leaving Selhurst Park for English Premier League rivals Arsenal last year, but the Gunners ended up opting to sign Zaha’s international teammate Nicolas Pepe for a club record fee of £72 million instead.
Zaha has been a star performer for the Eagles over the last decade, having eventually returned to the club after failing to impress in his short time at Manchester United.
Talking on Rio Ferdinand’s Locker Room show on YouTube the 27-year-old opened up about his failed move to Emirates Stadium: “It was nice. Supporting them and having them wanting you at the same time, leaves you thinking: ‘this is amazing.’
“But things never worked out so you just have to move on as quick as possible. I was thinking this may happen. But my whole family was watching and it just didn’t work out.”
While a move to the Gunners failed to come to fruition, Zaha hasn’t closed the door on a possible big money move elsewhere in the near future.
“I’m 27, trophies is what it’s all about.
“If there’s an opportunity to win trophies, then 100 per cent. That’s 100 per cent what I want in my career and what I’m working towards,” he concluded.
Zaha has scored 56 goals and assisted 70 in 353 appearances for Palace.
