Cameroon international Andre Onana can sign for FC Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) even if it means limited game time.
This is according to legendary Cameroonian striker Patrick Mboma, who was named African Footballer of the Year for his efforts in 2000.
Onana is widely considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world and the Ajax Amsterdam star has been linked with top European clubs since last year.
Mboma, who played for French champions PSG in the 1990s, explained why Onana should consider returning to his former Spanish club, Barcelona.
“PSG, FC Barcelona, he has to cross a level while playing for a big club,” Mboma told Press Sport.
“By choosing a real challenge, but he’s [only] 24, and he can [afford to] mess up for a year or two and bounce back afterwards.
“He’s still very young and can still take a few risks in his career. If he goes to PSG or FC Barcelona and does not play, it is not a big deal.”
Onana has also been linked with English clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
He helped Dutch giants Ajax clinch the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield in 2019.
