Internazionale are reportedly hoping to prize Franck Kessie away from city rivals AC Milan.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, I Nerazzurri remain keen on signing the Ivory Coast international despite Milan’s reluctance to sell to a team in the same city.
Kessie officially joined Milan on a permanent deal from Serie A rivals Atalanta in July last year.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League in the past, but Milan now face competition from a more familiar “problem” if they are to keep hold of the in-demand midfielder.
Kessie has scored one goal in 30 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/20 season.
Milan currently occupy seventh place on the Serie A standings, 18 points behind third-placed Inter.
The most recent player to move from Milan to Inter is former Italy international Antonio Cassano.
