On this day last year, Ghana suffered further Africa Cup of Nations heartbreak as they crashed out of the 2019 tournament.

The Black Stars were amongst the favourites heading into the tournament, but had their hopes of a fifth continental crown dashed by Tunisia in the Round of 16.

A late own goal from Rami Bedoui in regulation time handed Ghana a lifeline following Yassine Khenissi’s opener, but having squandered a catalogue of chances the West Africans would eventually bow out of the tournament after losing 5-4 on penalties.

Heading into the showpiece in Egypt, Ghana had reached the final four at six successive tournaments during which time they lost in both the 2010 and 2015 final.
